Beauty, power, sexuality, and human frailty are ingredients for intrigue in a enticing cinematic debut.
LOS ANGELES, CA -- Indie filmmaker Celia Aurora de Blas’ most recent project is the art concept short film, Incredible Girl, launched from concept to creation in her studio in West Los Angeles, and filmed on location at the Saint Bar in Hollywood. Set amongst the gritty backdrop of sweaty throngs of strobe-lit club dancers, Incredible Girl explores themes of lust and female empowerment in an raw coming-of-age story set to thumping house music, where shadows, body language and the things that are unsaid drive the story visually and viscerally.
Setting: The film’s deep sensuality is displayed in shadowy hues of dark blues and purples that contrast grit with modernity in an urban, contemporary club environment. These scene elements are illustrative of desire and infatuation. The cinematography is varied: slow, quick, light and sharp.
Story: The camera snakes its way through a thumping club, as a scantily clothed, sensual and sweaty crowd grinds, writhes and throbs in time with the music. In walks the Club Diva, making her rounds through the club until she sees someone new: Innocent Girl. What unfolds is a delicate push-pull balance of power, lust, attention, and exploration -- all elements interconnected, as if evoking an ancient primal dance.
